Squirrels are mischievous. I learned that the hard way. Tried to start the car (my daily driver, a 2014 Ford Focus) after a 12 hour shift at work. The poor thing had a terrible misfire. I decided to pop the hood to take a peek. That’s when I found this:
What. The. Hell. Looks expensive.
See that? That’s a squirrel’s (or other rodent) nest. The wires going to the coil packs on cylinder 2 and 3 are chewed through.
Even the hood insulation has to be replaced. Not sure I want to know what Ford will charge for that

That’s a lot of work for 12 hours.

Damn. I wish you the best with that.

Insurance covers part of it. It’s probably not worth it.

Yikes. I had a rodent chew up through air filter on my old 626. I noticed when the throttle stuck open juuuust enough to idle at redline.

Holy crap, that’s awful! Sorry to hear it.

Squirrels (and chipmunks) are evil little bastards. They are even more destructive than mice.
The hood insulation is for reducing NVH, so if you can live with a little extra noise that doesn’t need to be replaced right away.
